Dear Brewers,
As mentioned at the last meeting, we have a few competitions coming
up for you to participate in. The DC State Fair, Oliver Ale’s Homebrew
Competition, and our in-house competition for the August meeting:
1) DC STATE FAIR:
Registration for the DC State Fair Homebrew Competition is now open to
DC residents!
Brew and enter a beer (with extra points for homegrown hops and
ingredients) in one of five categories to win prizes and show your
beer-brewing credentials. The top beers in each of the five categories
will win prizes and move on to the final round with the grand prize
going to the entry taking best of show. Unlike some other homebrew
competitions, only three bottles total are required for each entry -
so you’ll still have plenty of bottles of your prized entry left to
enjoy!
Registered entries can be dropped off at Meridian Pint between Monday,
September 3, and Friday, September 14.
Judging will take place on Monday, September 17.

2) OLIVER ALE’S COMPETITION:
Oliver Ale’s upcoming homebrew competition details: (http://
www.prattstreetalehouse.com/2012/06/the-fall-homebrew-competition) Entries are now due by Saturday, August 18th at 3 Stars Homebrew Shop.
3) DCHB IN HOUSE COMP:
As we did last month with the Porter competition, this month’s in-
house homebrew competition will determine the Club’s entry into the
AHA sponsored Club-only competition. Entries (3 bottles, any size) are
to be brought to the August meeting (date to be released shortly, 3d
week of August). The style is BJCP 6: Light Hybrid Beer (Cream Ale,
Blonde Ale, Kolsch, America Wheat or Rye).
