Dear Brewers,
The bad news is that Oktoberfest is over [sigh]. The good news is October’s DC Homebrewers Club meeting is just around the corner [insert applause].
Our host this month is The District Chophouse & Brewery, and their head brewer, Barrett Lauer. They are located in Chinatown, 509 7th St N.W. in between the Crime and Punishment museum and Iron Horse Taproom. Check out Barrett’s bio here: http://districtchophouse.com/view/our-story/index.html. You can also find him on twitter @ChopHouseBrew.
THE DETAILS:
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 7pm. Barrett will be on hand to give tours of the brewery, and we’ll have the upstairs loft to ourselves to share our homebrew (bring homebrew if you can, if you don’t have any to share, don’t let that stop you!)
NOTE: Because we are meeting at a restaurant, please do not bring commercial beers or food to the Chophouse. They have great beers on tap as well as food available for purchase at the bar. Thanks!
Hope to see you all there. We had a number of new faces last month at Martin’s, so if you’ve been on the fence about coming to a meeting, this is a great opportunity to check us out.
OTHER NEWS:
Mark your calendars for Saturday November 3, 2012 for National “Learn to Homebrew Day” which we will be hosting at 3 Stars Brewing Co. & Homebrew Store at 10am. We’ll brew an all grain beer and an extract beer from start to finish with plenty of step-by-step detail. Interested? More details are coming soon.
Also, DCHB will hold it’s annual organizational meeting early this year (later this month or early November). If you’ve wanted to get more involved with the club’s events and intricate workings, keep your ears open, date to be announced shortly…
Cheers,
Joshua Hubner
