July Meeting Details (updated 7.19.12)

Dear Brewers,

Just a friendly reminder about this Thursday’s meeting, with some more details and tidbits.

Back in May we learned that D.C. was getting it’s very own homebrew shop, courtesy of the good folks at 3 Stars Brewing Co., Dave Coleman and Mike McGarvey. Since then, they’ve crossed all the t’s and dotted all the i’s, and have fired up their brew kettles, making them the third production brewery to open in D.C. in the past 15 months. Check them out at www.3StarsBrewing.com

Dave and Mike have invited you all to share in the excitement by volunteering to host this month’s DCHB meeting at their brewery in Takoma!

The meeting will be held on Thursday July, 19, 2012 at 7pm.

3 Stars Brewing Co. & Homebrew Shop is located at 6400 Chillum Pl. NW, Washington, D.C. The closest Metro station is Takoma Park on the Red Line.

*From the Metro, exit towards Cedar St. NW, then turn right (walking underneath the Metro tracks). This will take you to the intersection of Cedar, Blair and 4th St. Turn left to walk south on Blair Rd. NW. Follow Blair Rd. south until you intersect with Kansas Ave. NW (approximately 7 minutes). Turn left on Kansas and then make your first left onto Chillum Pl. NW. 3 Stars is a 3 minute walk up Chillum Pl. on the left side.

*DONT FORGET TO BRING YOUR BOTTLES OF HOMEBREWED PORTER FOR THE COMPETITION

*If you are not competing, just bring whatever homebrew you can spare, some snack to go with the BBQ, or some craft beer to share. Of course, you are not required to bring anything, just a desire to enjoy and share in the spirit of homebrew!

*There is street parking near the brewery, but it is limited. Look for this: http://twitpic.com/9×5e1x

We’ll have an opportunity to check out their operation first hand, and the homebrew shop will be open for all those last minute purchases for weekend brewing.

*Dave and Mike will extend a 10% discount on all purchases made at the store (they are open starting at 4pm).

All the other meeting details are the same, with a Porter demonstration and brief lecture at 7:15pm followed by introduction and enjoyment of everyone’s home brewed beers. For more details about meetings, check out:http://www.dchomebrewers.com/?page_id=2

*Bonus: Logan from Smoke & Barrel will be manning the grills out front and will have tasty grilled meats for purchase! http://smokeandbarreldc.com/

*We’ll also have announcements about the Pig Roast (8-4-12), the Oliver Ale’s upcoming homebrew competition (http://www.prattstreetalehouse.com/2012/06/the-fall-homebrew-competition/), the DC “State” Fair Competition, and more!

This should be a great meeting, many thanks to Dave and Mike for their hospitality!

Cheers,

Joshua Hubner, el presidente
