Nut Mead

Hey everyone - I'm thinking about trying a pistachio mead (is that technically a metheglin?) and I'm wondering if A) anyone has had any experience with this and B) any ideas on amounts of the nut to add. Also - is it a bad idea to try this because of the oils most nuts carry?
